Meet Dr. Elon Zora
Almost twenty years ago, in 2006, I started a summer job with my Uncle Donnie—you may know him as Dr. Russell. That summer I learned how to take dental x-rays; I was thankful for the job opportunity but had no plans to return. Four years later, I took a year off from college and my mom said there was only one rule: if I took a year off, I’d have to work. Once again, Uncle Donnie graciously offered me a job, but this time he had a rule as well: I would have to become a dental assistant. Little did I know it, but this new position would change my life—I quickly fell in love with the art and science of dentistry!
Today, I am blessed to be working with Uncle Donnie’s daughter—my cousin—Dr. Rayne. I am so grateful to my Uncle Donnie for instilling in me this great passion for serving others through dentistry, and to Rayne and James for welcoming me to Selma to work alongside them. God has taken care of me every step of the way, and my intention is to emanate this care to every patient I encounter. I want every child to feel safe and, just maybe, enjoy coming to the dentist! I am honored to be here—to serve the Lord by serving your family. I appreciate the opportunity to care for your children and look forward to seeing their big smiles!
I grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, and attended the University of Kansas (go Jayhawks!), but as a child and young adult I vacationed in Marion Junction, Alabama at my grandparent’s home. Rural Alabama has always, and will always, hold a special place in my heart. I lived in Selma for a year, then moved to Birmingham to pursue degrees at UAB.
While at the University of Alabama at Birmingham I completed Bachelor degrees in Communication Management, Biology, and Chemistry. I then completed a Master of Science degree in Biomedical and Health Sciences. After having my son, George, I completed my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. God gave me a passion for learning, and I enjoy the challenge of keeping up with the ever-changing world of dentistry.
My greatest joy has been motherhood, and George loves coming to Marion Junction to spend time outdoors, and loves to visit the office in Selma! George and I share many of the same hobbies including painting, hiking, and fishing. When I’m not in the office, you can likely find us fishing at the pond or out in the yard painting the scenes of God’s beauty that surrounds us.
